A PEDESTRIAN has been rushed to hospital with a leg injury after being hit by a car on a key Canvey road.
Police shut off Somnes Avenue between Link Road and Canvey Way this morning after a crash near Waterside leisure centre.
Two ambulance service vehicle and an air ambulance were sent to the scene following reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car.
A man has now been taken to Basildon Hospital with a leg injury.
An East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called at 11.20am with reports of a pedestrian being hit by a car on Somnes Avenue on Canvey.
“An ambulance, ambulance officer vehicle and the Essex and Herts Air Ambulance were sent to the scene.
“An adult man, who had sustained a leg injury, was transported by road to Basildon and Thurrock University Hospital for treatment.”
The road re-opened earlier this afternoon. Essex Police has been contacted for comment.
