SOUTHEND United will face an Essex derby with Braintree Town in the National League next season.
The Iron triumphed 4-3 at Worthing in an entertaining National League South play-off final this afternoon and will now visit Roots Hall during the forthcoming campaign.
Braintree, who included ex Blues defender Leon Davies in their starting line-up, opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with Dom Odusanya on target.
But Ollie Pearce soon equalised for Worthing before Jack Spong put the hosts in front after 53 minutes.
Braintree replied with Aaron Blair and Charlie Wakefield both scoring to make it 3-2 before Danny Cashman's equaliser took the tie to extra time.
However, it was the Iron who triumphed with Reggie Lambe scoring the game's decisive goal in the 108th minute.
