UP-and-coming urban star Fugative is on the run to Southend tonight, Friday, September 11.

The 15-year-old musician, from Loughton, brings his sound, which he describes as hip-pop, to Bar Blu, in Lucy Road.

Recently signed up for an album deal by Ministry of Sound, the young rapper has also caught the attention of music moguls across the pond.

An American management team, headed up by Kirk Burrows, who founded Bad Boy Records with hip hop giant Puff Daddy, are now working with the rising talent.

Fugative first came on to the scene last year, with his track It’s Summertime, which jumped in at number two in the UK urban chart.

An interview with Radio 1 DJ Nick Grimshaw, and a slot on BBC News followed, propelling the Essex boy into the limelight.

His style, influenced by artists such as Kayne West, Chris Brown and Akon, is hip hop with a commercial twist. Current single Jimmy Shoe has notched up just under half a million views on YouTube.

Yet, aside from his age, Fugative stands out in that he writes and produces his work, on his own label Runaway Productions.

Even before the release of his debut album Ain’t No Going Home, which is expected early next year, the youngster has secured a prestigious support spot.

He will warm up for chart topping Euro-trance star Basshunter on his UK tour, where he’ll be taking in venues such as the Manchester Apollo and London’s Shepherds Bush Empire.

His appearance at Bar Blu, starting at 9pm, is to raise funds for the Great Ormond Street Hospital.
