JUST when you thought the line up for V Festival couldn’t get any better a further nine acts have been confirmed to perform.

Cheeky popsters McFly are the latest band to sign up for this year’s festival.

The move means Corringham-born bassist Dougie Poynter will be playing in his home county for the second time this year, following the band’s sellout gig at the Cliffs Pavilion, Westcliff.

It's the second V appearance for Dougie alongside bandmates Harry Judd, Tom Fletcher and Danny Jones.

Fellow home-grown chart-topper Pixie Lott, from Brentwood, will be making her V debut on the back of her number one success with Mama Do.

Other additions include Sneaky Sound System, Asher Roth Carolina Liar, Bjorn Again, Mike Snow, Exit Calm and Zarif.

Thirteen years since its inception, the festival, which will take place in Hylands Park, Chelmsford, over the weekend of August 22 and 23, will feature some of the music industry’s biggest bands of the moment.

The latest acts will join headliners Oasis and the Killers, as well as the likes of Lady Ga Ga and Lily Allen.

Bob Angus, festival director, says: “V Festival is delighted to add such a range of hot talent to our line-up at this late stage.

“We now have more than 60 acts confirmed to play at this year’s V Festival, and feel confident all the acts on the bill genuinely offer a fresh and diverse mix of the best the current music scene has to offer”
