Shock rocker Marilyn Manson was the toast of the Kerrang! Awards as he was honoured for his lifetime achievement in music.
The US star, real name Brian Warner, is famous for his shocking stage persona. He picked up his award at the music industry bash at the Troxy in east London.
Other winners on the night included veteran rockers Judas Priest who were given the Inspiration Award for a career that dates back to the 1980s and the new wave of British heavy metal and Alice Cooper who was given the Kerrang! Legend Award.
Royal Blood, who beat One Direction to be named best British group at the Brits, won again and picked up the best British newcomer award.
American band All Time Low took two gongs when they were named best international band, beating AC/DC to the prize, and their tour with You Me At Six was named best event.
Kerrang! editor James McMahon said: “What a night! You know why Kerrang! continues to grow well into our 30th year? Because we are the anti-boring. The anti-conservative. The anti-bland.
“At what other music awards ceremony would you find Marilyn Manson being attacked by a zombie or Alice Cooper being taught card tricks by Dynamo? Tonight was the pages of Kerrang! made flesh. A celebration of amazing music, lust for life, noise, community and fun. Does anyone have any aspirin?”
Enter Shikari’s protest song The Anaesthetist was named best single, while the best album award went to Marmozets for The Weird And Wonderful Marmozets.
