Dame Helen Mirren has dropped her perfectly rounded vowels to get squeaky and cheeky in an interview with Jimmy Fallon.

The 69-year-old actress – who is currently starring as The Queen in The Audience on Broadway – appeared on The Tonight Show, where comedian Jimmy decided it would be a good idea to hear Dame Helen’s distinctive British accent after inhaling helium.

Dame Helen took the balloon and chuckled: “I haven’t done this since I was about 11. This is the rude bit – suck in – ooh.”

Jimmy was in fits of giggles, made even worse when one of the balloons made a parping noise, and Dame Helen joked she had broken wind.

She then gave a mock awards acceptance speech after inhaling the helium, as well as saying “spotted dick” and “toad-in-the-hole”.
