Oscar nominees Jude Law and John Malkovich will both return to the London stage in 2017 in new plays.

Jude will star in the world premiere of Obsession at the Barbican, a stage adaptation of Luchino Visconti’s eponymous film which will be directed by Ivo Van Hove, who recently won a Tony for his production of A View From The Bridge starring Mark Strong.

His last London theatre appearance saw him portray a serial killer in The Infernal Comedy at the Barbican in 2011, a piece written specifically for him.

The Barbican Centre will celebrate the power of the moving image throughout the 2017 season, with projects and events that honour the world of film, including new work from artists Richard Mosse and John Akomfrah; an exhibition called Into the Unknown: A Journey Through Science Fiction; and a residency from American techno DJ and producer Jeff Mills.
