Callous crooks break into ex-cop's home on day of his funeral

CALLOUS crooks broke into the home of a retired police officer on the day of his funeral.

Norman Higgon, 90, died earlier this month following a battle with cancer.

He served with Essex Police from 1950 to 1977.

On the day of his funeral, on Friday January 18, thieves broke into his home in Malyon Court Close, Thundersley, ransacked the rooms and stole various valuables.

The fact that this burglary was on an ex police officers home, does not make any difference to the severity of the crime. Clearly this crime occurring on the day of his funeral would be very harsh for his family indeed. However this would not aggravate the crime in anyway or make any more callous. Unless of course the culprits somehow knew this was the day of his funeral.
