Basildon HMV to close
Basildon's HMV will close in the next six to eight weeks.
The store in the Eastgate Centre is going to close after Deloitte announced that a further 37 stores will shut at the loss of more than 450 jobs.
The administrators said they expected all the staff at Basildon's HMV to be made redundant.

Loved walking around the branch.
Yet another victim of the recession.
And Amazon. Most of my music collection came from this branch.
I only hope they find another store for Waterstones.

He assured me they are nowt to do with HMV and that maybe they'll find other premises in the town but at the moment they are in the dark over the situation
What will happen to Waterstones?

The shop that waterstones moved from is now vacant so maybe a move back there is in order
Had a thought about the loss of HMV - now there's only Wal-Mart to buy music from (unless they've stopped doing it too) where there was once Downtown, Parrot, Kelley's, Godfrey's, W H Smith, Woolies and the bloke on the market with the Trevor Bolder style sidies

people would rather download illegaly, they would rather download mp3 which does not even closely match the quality of the cd. they ghetto that is Basildon have loads of jobless no gooders ruining the local town.
As for jobless, when a new town is built with loads of industries included, and then the people whose responsibility it is to sell the goods and keep us all gainfully employed in those industries prove they haven't a clue how to design nor make anything worth while, only how to leech the money out of those factories, what else do you expect?
The workforce didn't design short life rust buckets, our management teams supposedly saw to that. You all took the mick out of the Citroen deck chair on wheels. The French now build better family cars than we ever dreamt of. And they have stronger unions that us. It is no wonder De Gaulle didn't want us in their common market.
Management, There's hardly a one could plan a drinking session in Watneys! No wonder they keep looking for a scapegoat!

You can download MP3 at different qualities and if you use a lossless format such as WMA you'll lose no quality at all.

I have lived there all my life.
AndyBSG: people do not care about the different formats, they download Mp3 as its easier and they dont need to do much. which pretty much sums peoples attitudes to life to date.

They have just announced massive profit losses, all part of the global decline in non important goods
