The family of Liam Holden, who was killed outside Euro Lounge nightclub in Grays, have paid tribute to him.

The 35-year-old father was leaving the club after a night out with friends when it is thought he became involved in a fight with another group of people early on Sunday.

He was taken to hospital with head injuries but couldn't be saved.

Another man was also taken to hospital after the fight, but was not seriously injured.

Mr Holden's family have released a statement through Essex Police saying: "Gentle giant, much-loved son, brother, dedicated father and partner. Loved by all.”

A 21-year-old man from Grays, who was arrested on Monday on suspicion of murder, has been bailed until May 22 pending further enquiries.

Another man, a 23-year-old from Grays, was detained by police in Humberside and will be brought back to Essex for questioning.

Det Chief Insp Lucy Robinson, who is leading the investigation, said: “We want to talk to anyone who was at the nightclub on Saturday night into Sunday morning who might have information about the circumstances that led to the altercation.

“We also want to hear from anyone who was in London Road, Grays, and saw the events leading to the altercation or the assault, or may have overheard the incident.

“We especially want to find out more about two men who were seen leaving the scene and walking towards Grays town centre, in the direction of the station.”

Anyone with information can call police at Grays on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
