A TERRIFIED woman was held by the throat as thugs ransacked her home and stole jewellery.

The woman, who is in her sixties, was at her home in Nether Priors, Basildon when the frightening attack happened.

Two men knocked at her home and when the woman answered they told her they had the wrong house.

Minutes later they knocked at the back door, after climbing into her garden, and when the woman came to the door they barged past, forcing their way in.

Once inside the men pushed the woman into the hallway and while one held her by the throat against the wall, his accomplice ran upstairs and began ransacking the bedroom.

The woman was warned not to look at the two thieves or they would “hurt” her.

The thug helped himself to a haul of jewellery including the woman’s wedding ring, a black sapphire and diamond ring and a wedding ring belonging to the victim’s late husband.

Witnesses to the aggravated burglary, which happened at around 7.30pm on Wednesday March 13, can contact PC Henderson at Basildon CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
