TWO teenagers have been discharged from hospital after their faces were slashed in a knife attack.

A group of six teenagers, boys and girls aged between 14 and 16, had been in Chase Park, off Fairfax Drive, when the incident happened.

They were approached by two teenagers, with two others appearing to act as lookouts who waited outside the park.

The teenagers were robbed of their mobile phones, cash, and two rucksacks.

Two of the boys, aged 14 and 16, suffered slash wounds to their faces. They were both taken to hospital where they received stitches before being discharged.

The two suspects who were in the park are described as white and aged 16 to 20.

Detectives want to speak to anyone who was in Chase Park at about 9pm on Wednesday, July 10 or who may have seen the suspects running off.

Chief Insp Matt Bennett, Southend’s district commander, said: “I’d like to remind the community that Southend continues to be a safe place to live.

“This is an extremely unusual event and we will do everything we can to bring the offenders to justice.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact SouthendCID on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
