IMPROVEMENTS are being made to bus services across south Essex following a commuter survey.

First Bus has announced a series of changes to its services across the county, which will come into force on September 1.

The changes have been introduced following feedback from customers and stakeholders on the performances of its current routes.

Service numbers 5, 8, 8A and 9 in Basildon, Pitsea and Laindon will see minor changes to running times to improve punctuality and provide better train connections at Basildon station.

The timetable of number 9 bus from Basildon to Brentwood via Billericay will be revised to provide earlier and later journeys to and from Warley, plus extra services in the morning and evening.

The number 15 from Basildon Hospital to Runwell, via Wickford, and the 15a from Langdon Hills to Wickford will see additional services providing up to three buses per hour during the day.

Service 25 from Southend to Basildon, via Wickford, will see minor changes on Monday to Friday mornings in the Wickford area.

Bus number 100 from Chelmsford to Lakeside, via Basildon and Grays, will see its 6.40am service start in Stock, providing earlier routes for commuters.

Meanwhile, three services on the number 200 route from Basildon to Grays, via Thurrock College, will be scrapped.
