£50,000 council tax write-off
ALMOST £50,000 has been written off by Basildon Council in outstanding council tax in May.
A total debt of £49,287 was written off that month because of people who had been declared bankrupt, had gone into an Individual Voluntary Arrangement, or who the council was not legally able to seek recovery from.
