MANAGEMENT at a Pitsea firm that last week toasted 40 years of trading claims that staying loyal to their Basildon customers is the secret to their success.

Maintenance company Glorcroft, in Stacey’s Corner, Timberlog Lane, which has carried out works for the likes of Basildon Council, housing associations, and even hospices down the years, celebrated 40 years of business last Wednesday.

The firm, which mainly recruits locally, invited clients and employees from the past to help celebrate the milestone at their Pitsea head office.

Barrie Whitterick, who purchased the company outright 12 years ago after starting out as a trainee joiner at the firm in 1980, said that the majority of Glorcroft’s 45 employees are local.

He said: “Employing locally is very important and we’ve always stayed local to our employees and customers.

“In 40 years, we have never had to advertise, we’ve just relied on word of mouth and I think that’s testament to how well regarded we are in Basildon."
