Wickford park gets facelift
6:00am Friday 25th October 2013 in News
A PARK has been spruced up thanks to two lots of community funding.
Shotgate Parish Council has successfully bid for a slice of cash from Essex County Council’s community capital fund, netting £8,899 to go towards the area’s park.
The funds will go towards picnic benches, waste bins, and a new pathway at the rear of Shotgate Park, off Southend Road, in Shotgate.
The cash boost will go hand-in-hand with Shotgate Parish Council’s own contribution of £2,100, meaning that more than £10,000 has been injected into the park.
Parish councillor Malcolm Hodges, who led the park’s regeneration project, said: “The parish council was delighted to obtain this funding and gives thanks to Essex County Council with its support in this project.
“Since the improvements have been made, we’ve already received many positive comments from those using the area”.
Other improvements to the park include newwildflowers.
The authority wants to give the Memorial Park, in Rettendon View, a £1million refurbishment
