UPDATED: Woman who "drove wrong way down road" charged with seven offences
A WOMAN is tomorrow due to in court charged with dangerous driving amid allegations she drove the wrong way down two busy roads while being pursued by police.
Ashley Morley, 29, from Montague Street, Basildon, has also been charged with assaulting a police man and failing to stop after an accident amid accusations an officer was hurt as a grey Citroen failed to stop for him.
She was detained over the weekend after three people were arrested in Wickford in a vehicle on Saturday at around noon.
Morely is alleged to have driven the wrong way round Rettendon Turnpike rounabout and also down the A129 at Rayleigh in the wrong direction.
She faces separate charges of driving with no insurance, driving with no licence, failing to stop when required by police and a fraud offence amid allegations she tried to dishonestly obtain £15 of petrol from a service station in Braintree.
The vehicle is alleged to have been asked to stop by police in Maldon Road, Witham at 10am.
Sally Jane Burrows, 38 of Melcombe Road, Benfleet was charged with possession of a knife in a public place.
Both will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court tomorrow.
A 33-year-old man from Basildon who was also arrested was released without charge.
