A WOMAN from Southend has been awarded £12,000 in an outof- court settlement after poor dental treatment caused her to lose two teeth.

Donna Goldsworthy, 40, sued three dentists at Felmores Dental Care, in Felmores End, Basildon, after they failed to treat deep-rooted decay in several of her teeth, which lead to the extraction of two.

Despite seeing Donna 25 times over six years, Dr Parish Vaid, Dr Meeraj Subash Patel did not diagnose her.

It was only when she joined a new dental practice that the decay was dealt with.

She said: “The pain was neverending.

It felt like appointment after appointment and an endless list of treatments.

“My new dentist could see what poor condition my teeth were in straight away.

“I found out two of my teeth were badly decaying and that I needed four new fillings, one of which would have to be under sedation.

“One of my teeth was so badly decayed it had be removed. I lost two teeth and needed them to be replaced with dental implants. I was horrified.”

Dental negligence specialists, the Dental Law Partnership took on Donna’s case.

DLP senior solicitor, Jonathan Owen, said: “X-rays clearly showed several of Donna’s teeth were in a state of decay.

“The treatment provided was far below the standards expected. Each dentist had the opportunity to diagnose and treat Donna appropriately but failed to do so.

“She has now lost two teeth as a result.”

Mrs Goldsworthy added: “I trusted the dentists and they let me down. I went through six years of hell because of them and still need treatment to correct their mistakes.

“What they did was not right. I’m very glad my case has now been settled so I can start to move on.”
