Wickford man denies murder charge after his mother is found in a pool of blood

A 21-year-old Wickford man has pleaded not guilty to murdering his mother.

Emmanuel Kalejaiye, 21, denies murdering Tolu Kalejaiye, who was found lying in a pool of blood with a stab wound to her neck at their family family home in Wethersfield Way, Wickford, but admits being responsible for her death.

Mrs Kalejaiye, a 44-year-old accountant, was found in the kitchen of the home she shared with her son, on September 26.

The defendant has been remanded in custody and a trial date has been set April 1.

Seems to be a few people latey that claim killing someone isn't murder!

You've got those 2 scumbags who murdered Lee Rigby admitting they killed him but denying murder (although I think they claim they're part of Allah's army), then there was that little scrote locally that stabbed a bloke repeated and denied attempted murder.

I think a little common sense needs to be applied in these cases to make sure scum like this spent the rest of their lives at Her Majesty's pleasure!

High time in this day, they bring back Capital punishment for murder, that would deter thousands, to commit violent crime, saving thousands.........

And/or mandatory life sentence for carrying an unlicensed firearm or knife in public.

Bring back the death penalty and introduce polygraphs tests. If anyone is questioned and answers ';no comment' that should be taken as an admission of guilt.
The law is too soft and a life worthless these days!

That's just ridiculous. For a start, you can't have a mandatory sentence as you have to factor in intent when talking about knives. They are both religious (e.g. Kirpan) and national (e.g. sgian-dubh) dress items. They are also an important part of the toolkit for many trades and also hobbies. The current law should be perfectly adequate although there may be some question of its enforcement.

There should be more prisons built to accommodate prisoners for their WHOLE length of sentence. Not let them out early because there aren't enough prisons to keep them. The increased population by migrants and more crimes being committed means we haven't got the facilities to lock up all criminals. Too many suspended sentencing also. Why suspend? If they are sentenced they should immediately be taken to prison to serve their WHOLE sentence. Yet again, they are released early because there isn't room for the new intake. So more prisons please and also return foreign criminals immediately to their own countries after sentence is served. No re-admission allowed to this country ever again. Even if they plead that they have created a family here and want to stay. They can take their family back with them if they want a family life.

I think taking away peoples freedom for the full time of the sentence is a good start. Remember it is not just the violent who do time.
You don't have to be sadistic about it. Just because certain politicians fiddle the clocking on machine or mildly nick a few million in expenses, does not mean they have to be tortured. That was OK when the royalty dished out the punishment but not these days. You think of getting caught fiddling your tax return and being turned into the bar of soap for the shower stars. Surely that's punishment enough?
