Fears for missing Westcliff teenager

Basildon Recorder: Missing Richard Clarke, 15 Missing Richard Clarke, 15

A TEENAGE boy has been missing for a week.

Concerns are growing for the welfare of Richard Clarke, 15, who was last seen on Saturday, January 25.

He was last at home with his family in Balmoral Road, Westcliff, the previous morning.

Richard turned up to the YMCA Free School in East Street, Prittlewell, on Friday, January 24, but skipped his last lesson.

He was spotted by one of his friends in Southend High Street the next day, but no one has heard from him since.

His worried sister Shannon Day, 18, said: "We are at a lost end, we just don't know where he could have gone.

"Him and his best friend normally see each other every afternoon but even he hasn't heard from Richard.

"My dad had a heart to heart with him because he had been missing school, and he promised he would sort himself out."

A spokeswoman for Essex Police said: “We are making enquiries and anyone with information should call police at Southend on 101.”

He must be with somebody. Is he still missing? Sometimes we are not kept up-to-date. Richard; if you read this. Go home. All problems can be sorted out at home.

l saw a boy who looked like this yesterday at a bus stop in Southend. He was with another boy, who looked to be of turkish origin and they wanted to go along the London Rd in the diection of Leigh, or beyond.
He seemed a bit aware of people, and a bit restless, they were both smoking, l felt sorry for the pair of them, they seemed like nice boys underneath the bravado, but children do not usually run away unless there is something wrong at home, and l don`t just mean an occasional ticking off.
My message if it is this boy would be to go home and try to sort out any problems that you can. lf you are worried about anything else, talk to someone else, impartially, outside the family, but hopefully, it ca be sorted out within the family.

Hope Richard is safe and well, and speaks to someone who will help sort out any problems in his life. All problems can be helped. If he is ok and his family don't know why he has gone missing it is unfair to put them through so much worry and he should find someone else to speak to, whether that be a trusted friend, teacher, doctor or maybe visit the Samaritans in York Road:

Any news on Richard?

Richard, if you are reading this, contact your family right NOW. Please do it because they will be going out of her minds with worry.

There is nothing that cannot be sorted if you just talk to someone. You must let them know you are OK at least.

AT least contact someone trustworthy. Please be careful and don't think you can't go back. I'm sure everything will be OK if you just talk to a trusted adult.
