POLICE want to question a man in connection with a fraud investigation.

The man met a Billericay man, aged 23, outside Billericay train station on Sunday, February 2 and sold him an iPad, as advertised on online sales store Gumtree, for £200.

However, when he later connected the ipad to the internet he found it had been stolen and was not the model advertised.

The man, who is described as 6ft tall, medium build, aged around 22 with acne scars on his face, said he had been travelling from Rayleigh and the victim believes the man pictured is the man involved.

Police want to identify him and question him about this incident.

The suspect was wearing a black and white bomber jacket, jeans and a baseball cap.

Anyone with information should contact investigating officer Dc Jon Holden at Basildon CID on 101 or via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Really?

You meet a stranger, in a public place and hand over £200 of your hard earned, without even testing it??

More fool you.

Sorry.

This is a the same scenario you find when someone who knew he was buying stolen goods, and thought he was going to get a bargain, is now upset because they were not "as described".
If the buyer didn't know he was buying stolen goods, when the circumstances of the sale were enough to convince any idiot, then he needs to go and seek medical help because his common sense is showing signs of ailment.

I think the buyer is known as a mug punter! Isn't £200 for an Ipad rather a lot of money? And outside a station isn't a great place to buy computer equipment. Yet just the other day a similar youth tried to sell me Southend Pier for 50 quid. I thought it sounded supicious.

Yeah you were right to be suspicious, it can only be worth 25 quid tops.

I'm not well versed with Gumtree but how does one contact a seller?
If it is by mobile then can they not trace the number to the seller?
