A MANHUNT has been launched after electrical equipment was taken from a Basildon supermarket.

Police want to identify three men following two incidents at Sainsbury’s in Cricketers Way, Basildon.

Two men, shown in the first and second CCTV image, are alleged to have gone into the store, which is on the Cricketers Retail Park, at 1pm on Wednesday, February 19, selected a television from the display and tried to leave the store without making an attempt to pay for it.

Security staff followed them into the car park and the suspects made off, leaving the television behind.

On Monday, February 24, at 7.45pm the man pictured in the third CCTV image is alleged to have removed a speaker system from the display and left without making an attempt to pay for the goods.

The police only released the CCTV images today.

If you recognise these men please contact PC Kevin Bingham at Basildon Retail Crime Unit on Essex Police 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

He has a point though. They may have got the wrong people on camera? There suspected, not actually confirmed. Although they probably are the alleged thieves, if they were identified and the police paid them a visit, they could just deny it, and without the actual item in their possesion, theres nothing they could do. The case would be out of court like a shot. Not enough evidence.

Where is the TV set or the speakers? Much like the Jimmy Saville fracas, trial by media was never supposed to be our (British) way. Like every person in this land, you have the right to speak at your trial.
How is Jimmy Saville ever to speak up for himself? Yet his name will now be for ever besmirched. And with the Russians in the current crisis. They don't want Nato leaning over their fences, as they were soon to do. When the Cuba crisis was on we never knew that the USA had missiles leaning over Russia's fence, nor that America had to remove them as part of the Cuba settlement.
This country has less democracy now than it has ever had. See how much longer you think that doesn't matter!

The security followed them on camera and in person so why else would their pics be in the paper? They dont show them taking it so they can explain to a judge the footage of them taking it without being judged by echo readers, we have the human rights lefty brigade to thank for that. You cant call them a thief until they are convicted. I bet your the same kind of person that was against abu qatada being deported too?

It says.."selected a television from the display and tried to leave the store without making an attempt to pay for it.

"witnessed attempted theft".. find them and maybe find an Aladdin's cave of goodies in their own houses and links to people who use them to equip their homes at bargain prices? Their DNA is probably in hundreds of homes all over Basildon.

or not guilty as in some cases when in fact they are guilty, just what happens on the day i s'pose.

i would say that before they posted these photos they where 100% sure that these are the ones that they want to talk to, lets face it if they are innocent partys they might well have called the numbers themselves and cleared their names as suspects, but i'll wager they have not.
I am also sure there is good CCTV on them walking out with the un-paid goods and the pursuing chase.
Now whether a court(if it went that far) finds them guilty is another matter.

Your powers of deduction match or exceed those of Jonathon Creek, but lynchings used to happen by people "being sure."
The police programmes on the Tv show the police catching wrong doers red-handed with a smoking pistol, but they arrest the guilty part "On suspicion of" because that is what the law demands.
Let's hope that nobody jumps to conclusions, the way people on here delight in doing, if any of you find yourselves on trial for something you did not do.
Sadly, whilst the elite steadily take everything from us, probably to afford to start another population cull, we spend our time fighting the have - nots. Look at our modern history.
Apparently, to deal with the energy shortage, we need to lose 82% of the population. No wonder Cameron's trying to construct a mountain out of every molehill!
