POLICE are looking for a dark coloured Volkswagen Passat in connection with a hit and run.

Martina Galvin, 33, suffered a number of horrific injuries after being run over near her home in Clay Hill Road, Basildon on Wednesday last week.

The accident happened at about 1.35pm near to the junction with Sunnedon while Miss Galvin, who suffers from autism was walking her Jack Russell.

The driver did not stop to help Miss Galvin.

Police have made a number of enquiries over the past week.

They are appealing for any mechanics who have repaired a Volkswagen Passet in the past week to get in touch.

Pc Jenny Pirie of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: "We are looking for a dark coloured Volkswagen Passatt which failed to stop at the scene.

“We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone who may have repaired one in the last week which may have collision damage.”

Miss Galvin was flown by air ambulance to the specialist trauma unit in Romford following the accident.

She was transferred to the Royal London Hospital where she is undergoing operations to her legs.
