First published in News

TWO UKIP councillors have been given cabinet positions on Basildon Council.

Linda Allport-Hodge, deputy leader of the party and ward councillor for Langdon Hills, and Mark Ellis, who represents Laindon Park, have been made cabinet members without portfolio.

It comes despite the Conservative party insisting they are running the council under minority control.

The new cabinet line up was announced during Basildon Council's annual general meeting last night.

Phil Turner, the former deputy leader has been made leader after long-serving councillor Tony Ball was ousted by UKIP.

Kevin Blake, cabinet member for leisure and arts has been made his deputy.

Mo Larkin has retained her crown as mayor of Basildon, and UKIP councillor Nigel Le Gresley has been made deptuy mayor.

Oh do pipe down. She is a nice, pleasant, dignified lady so stop carping. And come out from behind the safety of your keyboard Cockroach, we know it's you.

You're just bitter and twisted because your lot were too up yourselves to accept a cabinet position that was offered then moaned and b1tched because Le Gresley was made deputy.

If you are Cockroach, stop your whining and get on with rebuilding the shambles that is the Labour group and if you're not and are posting on his behalf, you don't know the lady so get off your high horse and stop wittering.

The word "crown" was used by the journalist not by Cllr Larkin herself. Anyone who knows her knows she is down to earth and liked by all the people she works alongside.

And you can think what you like about my comments. You know I don't give a toss. I speak as I find and criticise when I need to but somebody who has a big heart for people and goes out of her way for them as I have SEEN at close hand hardly deserves the nastiness and venom of somebody as sour as you.

The day I see you get off your butt and do something for the good of Basildon or raise large amounts of money for charities - as well as giving them a helping hand, I'll sing your praises; until then do put a sock in it.

....what no criticism of UKIP? Or are you gearing up for it Norris me old mucker?

I expect you will be taking valuable time out from some intensive curtain twitching to try and make up ludicrous rubbish and start tossing around your "isms" and the inevitable race card. You'll be casting Nigel Farage as the antichrist and everybody who voted UKIP as racist bigots no doubt. And when they start putting some hard hitting motions on the table you'll be passing a few "motions" with abject rage I expect.

We are all anticipating your usual ill informed rants and half baked theories and as usual, your comments will be met with derision as nobody here, except your alter egos and dwindling bunch of satellites really gives a two bob bit what you think.

And the day YOU get off your backside and put your neck above the parapet for the good of others is another day I shall celebrate with vigour. Even posting just one comment under your own name would be a start but we know you won't do that.

Until then I suggest you get your nets washed. They're looking a bit grubby and over-fingered these days.

Ms Gandy, how you make yourself a laughing stock -the expression is HEAD above the parapet, not neck.

Please read my original post again. And again. And again - third time lucky? I did not say that the Larkin used the word Crown did I. So why do you say that I did.

Either I am Councillor Cockroach or am I not. You seem to saying that I am in one sentence and that I am not in the next. Whats it to be? I'll provide you with the answer - I am not. I have told you this many times but you get some odd idea into your head and go on and on digging a larger hole for yourself.

Recently you were telling everyone here that the Larkin had raised 'millions for charity.' Well at last nights AGM of the Council she distributed....how many millions?...........
....thats it......just shy of £25k. Twenty five thousand pounds. So a little way to go before she gets to 1m and a bit further before that goes into the plural.

Labour did not come out of last night very well did they but neither did UKIP with Kerry Smith turning his opening 'speech' into some sort of political broadcast telling us that UKIP would take us out of Europe. Not exactly a skilled politician is he. Basildon Council can barely keep the streets clean and the take away the rubbish let alone aspire to anything more. I would love to believe Phil Turnip as he spoke with passion but I think that he is not the man for the job. Good luck to him though.

You have no idea what I do for Basildon so its best to keep schtum until you do know.

"We" ?

Which "We" is this Gandy?

" what no criticism of UKIP "

Why bother, you criticise them more than enough for everybody.

No mention of you being a councillor in this post...getting worried that people notice when you dont reply to the question; What sort of a councillor were you?

"looking a bit grubby and over-fingered these days"

Story of your life?

How some people can imbibe so much while on the dole is a mystery.

So it seems the Tories have infiltrated all the Parties then. Labour handed control of our council over to the right-wing ravers without a murmur, then UKIP rock their boat by ousting the imperious Tory leader, but on goes the sales of Basildon people s assets without even a pause for breath.
And Kim keeps on plugging her Royal pal and upping her importance whilst downing her mistakes, so all we need now is for the Tories to give us WW3 and it will again be business as usual, pre 1918 style! And all most left-wing so-called looney working people ever wanted was a fair days pay for a fair days work. Sadly personal greed has no moral bounds!

Yes, I think that the Council will still be run and controlled by the Tories. Labour is a spent force and UKIP have no interest in local politics, they are aiming far higher and will probably shoot themselves in their collective feet as they have no experience. All this tosh about giving residents what they want! As if! Whats left of Gloucester Park will be sold off, Dry Street Nature Reserve will be but a distant memory and Ballards Walk will be home to thousands of little boxes called houses. Billericay will continue to be under developed. Bas Town Centre will never be transformed into anything more than a home for pound shops ( it says it all that MaccyDees closed). We will still have Bet Lynch as Mayor ably assisted by Kim Gandy. However next years local elections will see a return to a more normal set up.

You are probably right. Labour were set up by the media and ably assisted, I think, by 5th columnists but, the reason for Labours being is still there and, in the unlikely event that a war does not wipe the 80% reduction, they will have to rise again as people slowly wake up to the mass con. Sadly, I will probably miss it, for the couldn't give a toss modern English will always blame it on what was, never on themselves or what is!
