Canvey Island 3-1 Bognor Regis Town
East Thurrock United 1-0 AFC Hornchurch
Needham Market 1-0 Great Wakering Rovers
Concord Rangers 3-0 Bath City
Tremendous opening day win for Town. As impressed as I was with them today, Grays will have to improve. A full-fit Carlos will be a big help for them. I have been told he was struggling with a knock this afternoon.
Full time: Billericay Town 2-0 Grays Athletic
Billericay are having to soak up some late Grays pressure but it is too little too late for Jody Brown's team.
A terrific ball in from Appiah finds Benjamin who wheels away in celebration after nodding home against his former club.
Chris Benjamin scores for Town!
Great Wakering Rovers go behind at Needham Market after 82 minutes.
GOAL!!! @ConcordRangers 3-0 @BathCity_FC (Jordan Chiedozie penalty 70mins)— @ConcordRangers 09 August 2014
No idea why Carlos didn't start. He has been the most inventive Grays player all day. His low near post cross is well cleared under pressure by Dunne - who has impressed at the back in the second half.
O'Hanlon trips Carlos cynically and wins a freekick but it is wasted by Beaney.
O'Hanlon wins a freekick down the right after being chopped down by Best-Riley. Poole sends a cross to the far post and the onrushing Scott slams it home. 1-0.
Carlos causing problems in the box but Ryan Scott is having a very good day at the back. Solid as a rock. Junior Appiah is coming on for his debut. Replacing the impressive Shaw.
Off the line! Edwards heads goalwards but Wilson is there to clear the danger from underneath the crossbar!
Matt Pooley has also come on for Town.
Joao Carlos is on to replace Joe Benjamin. Am surprised he didn't start.

Chris Webber sends the ball goalwards but it bends wide of the near post.
Jack Edwards has been booked for a trip on Joe Benjamin
GOAL!!! @ConcordRangers 2-0 @BathCity_FC (Danny Glozier penalty 51mins)— @ConcordRangers 09 August 2014
420 people here this afternoon. Pretty good turn-out.
SO Canvey, Concord and East Thurrock are all leading at the moment - in matches all three would have expected to find VERY difficult. Shaping up to be a very good day for our sides. Can Billericay join that list?
Really good play from Sappleton. He holds off his marker and fires in a low shot destined for the net. Gough dives and clears for a corner. The corner comes to nothing.
47: 2-1 to Canvey. Superb ball from Anthony Thomas finds Victor Osobu on the left who squares for John Sands to smash home from 6 yards.— @CIFC 09 August 2014
Bryan breaks into the Grays box and sees his cross roll across the six yard line. Where were the runners?
Sappleton tries out a long throw but it comes to nothing as Gough - who must be 6ft 7in - claims.
Jack Edwards is on for Femiola. Dunne has moved back to centre half. That is a necessary change for Town.
Teams are back out at New Lodge. Let's hope for a more action-packed second half!
Concord Rangers 1-0 Bath City (Steve Cawley)
Canvey Island 1-1 Bognor Regis Town (Jay Curran)
East Thurrock United 1-0 AFC Hornchurch (Lewis Smith)
Needham Market 0-0 Great Wakering Rovers
Billericay Town 0-0 Grays Athletic
Yala makes a terrific intervention as Chris Benjamin prepares to shoot. The corner from Poole finds Femiola but he heads harmlessly wide.
This match has not sparked really. Been quite a dull first period.
Dunne hits one from 18 yards after being teed up by Sappleton, calling Gough into action for the first time in the match.
Griffiths again works Lumley after a communication breakdown at the back. Edwards has to look at this at half-time.
Still 0-0 but it seems as though the opening will come from a move down the left.
Canvey Island have fallen behind at home to Begnor Regis Town. 0-1
Billericay's nicest passage of play there. Shaw links nicely with Poole down the left and plays in Sappleton. His ball out wide is almost returned to him but is blocked away. Poole strikes wide as it drops to him.
GOAL: EAST THURROCK UNITED 1-0 AFC Hornchurch - Lewis Smith (28') http://t.co/dOPxItvQBF— @1EastThurrockFC 09 August 2014
Great chance for Grays and a huge save from Lumley! A simple ball over the top finds Ladapo and he is through one-on-one! He bears down on goal but Lumley makes a top save with his right leg. Edwards fuming with the linesman.
Jody Brown is watching his Grays' side from behind us in the stand at the moment. Not sure why that is..
Lumley almost makes another error after he fails to talk to his defence as Ladapo runs through. Town are missing Halle this afternoon.
Disaster for Lumley who drops a routine catch from a corner but his defenders bail him out.
Griffiths is not pleased at Shaw after the two bump shoulders. Not sure what he is whinging about there. He has won the freekick!
Now Wilson is pulled up for a tug on Poole. Game risks getting scrappy at the moment.
Beavan is lucky to escape a booking after a crunching tackle on ex-Town man Joe Banjamin. Freekick is cleared at the near post. Not much in this at the moment.
GOAL!!! @ConcordRangers 1-0 @BathCity_FC (Steve Cawley 6mins)— @ConcordRangers 09 August 2014
Saying that Grays have almost taken the lead. Joe Benjamin bullies Femiola, who just lets his stride past him, and sees his shot clawed away at the near post. Femiola has to do better than that.
Gough's kicking is suspect to say the least. Grays aren't offfering much going forward here.
Best move of the match for Town. Benjamin does really well to drive a low ball towards the penalty spot. Webber, bursting forward, slides to meet it but his shot is inches wide with Gough stranded.
Crossed fizzed in by O'Hanlon and Shaw's header flies over the crossbar. Good link-up down the right though. Shaw a constant threat. The usually attacking fullback is enjoying his freedom further forward.
Really persistent work by Shaw wins a freekick for Town. Scott wins the header but it is cleared - just! Panic stations for Grays there.
For the purposes of this commentary, Billericay will be Town and Grays will be Athletic. Two Blues' is enough to confuse anyone - and that is without even getting onto Southend!
Grays' turn to push up. Griffiths wins a cheap freekick down the right but it is well cleared at the near post by Dunne. Now Griffiths has been flagged offside and Town have a freekick.
Billericay pressing at the moment. Beavan wins a freekick down the left. Poole to swing it in.
Lovely day at New Lodge.
Billericay kick off.
Pretty sure it is Grays keeper Conor Gough's birthday today - he turns 21.
So here we go: Teams out on the pitch. Billericay Town in blue and Grays in red.

Billericay have brought in former West Ham United lad Frazer Shaw and ex Grays striker Chris Benjamin, as well as Glenn O’Hanlon, Junior Appiah, Rowan Liburd, Matt Pooley, Marko Cancar, Jack Edwards, Glenn O'Hanlon and Cyrus Mahler.
Edwards will be looking for inspiration from burly front man Ricky Sappleton, who has linked up well with Benjamin in pre-season, and has been set a target of 25 goals this term.
Grays meanwhile have no fewer than 13 new names, as brought in by new boss Jody Brown.
Tricky winger Joao Carlos will be a threat from wide positions whilst Jay Leader is an excellent addition to the back line, as well as being a big danger from set plays. Also look out for returning Town striker Joe Benjamin.
Town boss Craig Edwards said recently he was pleased with Billericay’s early fixtures, but he will be even more eager to start the new season with a win over their Thurrock rivals.
Both sides have been busy this summer and we can expect to see a host of new signings on show here this afternoon.
