COUNCIL chiefs have announced they intend to now build more than 100 new council homes after getting the green light to borrow more cash.
Basildon Council has been allowed to borrow a further £3million against its existing housing stock.
It had already set up a company to build around 100 new homes, but this amount is now set to increase.
Phil Turner, council leader said: “Having the right mix of housing is crucial to the development of the borough and its residents. This is another significant step forward and yet another cause for celebration.”
