A teen entrepreneur is following in his father’s footsteps by taking ownership of a mobile home park.

Alfie Best Jnr, 17, has bought a site in Crays Hill for a six-figure sum, becoming the youngest mobile home park owner in the country.

He is the son of Alfie Best, owner of 41 parks across the UK, who last year bought the Rare Cow steak house chain, which has branches in Billericay, Writtle and Earls Colne.

The family gained public attention in Channel 4’s Big Fat Gypsy Wedding series.

Alfie Jnr had previously been the youngest owner of a nightclub when he bought a venue in Hertfordshire, but he sold the club, as well as his favourite Porsche car, to fund the purchase of the Crays Hill site.

The teenage businessman said: “I’m absolutely delighted.

I hope this will be the first of many.

“I suppose you could call me a chip off the old block. I am following in my father’s footsteps, but making my own path. I had to borrow a shedload of money from the bank, but they know I am a good investment.”

Alfie Jnr already runs Blockbuster Drains, a drainage company based in West Thurrock, and has his eyes set on more mobile home sites.

He said: “I’m proud of myself. I’ve been told I am by far the youngest owner of any mobile home park in the country, so this is a great start.

“There are 20 lovely homes on Crays Hill Park and I’ve already met most of the residents and have received a warm welcome.

“I look forward to working with them all.”

Alfie Snr is the chairman and founder of Wyldecrest Parks, a group of 33 mobile home parks, valued at about £100million.

The self-taught entrepreneur was raised in a Romany Gypsy family and started his career by buying and selling commercial vans.
