Some golfers wait a lifetime in vain for a hole-in-one, but Murray Johnston is off the mark at the age of eight.

The Larbert schoolboy holed out with a five iron at the 95-yard sixth on Callender Park's par-3 course during only his fourth lesson.

His coach, John Cummings, said: "You could see from about 20 yards it was going to go in. It was a brilliant shot."

The hole-in-one came before the youngster, who is learning the game through the Scottish Executive-backed clubgolf programme, had even had a hole-in-two.

"Murray has good rhythm, is very interested in the game and listens to everything you teach him," added Cummings.
