A man has been arrested after a stolen Range Rover was tracked by police in Thurrock.

Police had spotted the vehicle with a missing numberplate speeding along the A13 in the Thurrock area at about 2pm on Friday July 10.

When it failed to stop for officers, ground units and the police helicopter followed the vehicle through Grays.

The Range Rover was in collision with two parked vehicles in Bridge Road and Clarence Road before it collided with fencing and bollards at a property in Bridge Road.

Two men were in the vehicle and fled the scene.

A 20-year-old man from Purfleet was arrested on suspicion of burglary and theft of a motor vehicle and released on police bail until September 10, pending further enquiries.

Enquiries are continuing to trace the second man.

Investigations revealed the Range Rover had been reported stolen from an address in Ongar at 12.20pm that day, and was believed to have been taken overnight on Thursday.

Witnesses or anyone with information are asked to contact Dc Stephen Baker at Loughton CID on 101.
