THURROCK MP Jackie Doyle-Price is asking for constituents views on the recently announced proposals for the new Thames crossing.

Ms Doyle-Price has set up a six question survey online to gather the views of voters while a consultation runs until March 24.

On Tuesday the government announced four proposed for the new crossing, the favoured being a tunnel that wouldland in between Tilbury and East Tilbury, before running through Chadwell St Mary, Orsett and Ockendon before joining the M25.

Known as route three, it would be 14.2 miles long with an estimated cost of up to £5.9 billion. Highways also estimate up to 14 residential properties could be affected, as well as 22 traveller plots and three agricultural sites.

They estimate with public funding the route could be ready by 2025, and with private funding 2027.

Ms Doyle-Price said: “I have consistently argued that the new crossing should be located east of Thurrock. Highways England have rejected my demands and say in the consultation that a more easterly option would not alleviate congestion at the Dartford crossing.

“Highways England is now consulting on four routes, all of which go through Thurrock.”
