A MAN has been charged with two counts of attempted murder after two people in their sixties were stabbed on Wednesday.
Unemployed Emmanuel Wright, 31, of Corona Road, Basildon, will appear before Basildon Magistrates Court on Friday morning.
Police were called to a home in Corona Road at 9.50pm yesterday, after one of the victims called 999.
A man and woman, both aged in their 60s, had suffered serious but not life threatening knife wounds and are currently in hospital.
The suspect had left the scene in a black BMW car.
A 31-year-old man was arrested in Grays in the car park of the Moto service station shortly after 11pm.
A large bladed weapon was recovered at the property in Corona Road.
The victims and suspect are known to each other.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
DS Phil Rowberry, who is investigating, said: "We are carrying out house to house enquiries today but I would urge anybody who saw anything suspicious, especially after the incident when the BMW left the area, to contact me.”
Anybody that can help is asked to call DS Rowberry at Basildon on Essex Police 101.
