A CAR fire caused severe delays to Billericay commuters this morning.

Radford Way was shut off after a Jaguar caught alight at around 8am.

Firefighters from Basildon was called to the scene at at 8.10am and extinguished the blaze 35 minutes later.

An Essex Fire Service spokesman said: "A hose reel jet was used to extinguish the fire, which is believed to have been caused by the car overheating."

Police have confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances.
