There was cause for celebration for Canvey Independent Party
THE Conservatives have retained their narrow control of Castle Point Council on a disappointing night for Ukip in the borough.
Only two seats changed hands across the 15 seats up for election, as Canvey Independent Party candidates Carole Sach and Allan Taylor gained Canvey East and Winter Gardens.
The Tories retained all other seats, meaning they now have 22 of the 41 seats on the council.
Canvey Independent Party now has 16 councillors, while Ukip has three members, having failed to make any gains.
