AN aircraft had to make an emergency landing at Southend Airport today after reporting technical issues.
The airport provided a full emergency response, which is standard, and the plane landed safely.
The City Jet airliner had taken off from Florence and had been due to land at London City Airport, but was diverted to Southend for the emergency landing.
The aircraft stopped on the runway while the fire service checked out the brakes for any fire.
The runway was blocked for about ten minutes before the aircraft was towed off by a tug.
An Essex Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "Fire crews were sent to Southend Airport as a precaution to reports of a plane having difficulty.
"A plane landed safely and we left the scene at 3.15pm."
