A PENSIONER was taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle near a pedestrian crossing.

The incident happened in Eastwood Boulevard, in Westcliff, at 9.50am on Thursday.

An ambulance spokesman said: “The call came in at 9.49am this morning. It was to an RTC in Eastwood Boulevard in Westcliff.

“We had an ambulance crew and an ambulance officer in attendance.

“We treated one patient, believed to be a man in his 70s. He was conscious and breathing.

“He was taken to Southend Hospital for further treatment.”
