A COLLEGE has been praised for its excellent Higher Education in a recent inspection.

Seevic College, in Runnymede Chase, in Thundersley, received a glowing report from the Quality Assurance Agency – the equivalent of Ofsted for Higher Education.

A team of QAA reviewers visited the college and scrutinised its academic standards, the quality of learning, and the quality of information about its learning opportunities all meet UK expectations.

Seevic College was singled out for praise for the high level of individualised support that students receive as well as the work the team does to support academic and professional development.

Jan Burton, Higher Education Manager at Seevic College, said the college was pleased to receive such a positive review.

She said: “One of the key successes at Seevic College is the individualised support throughout the students’ journey and we are really pleased that QAA has recognised this as one of our strengths.

“At Seevic, we have a proven track record of high achievement with 100 per cent of all students to date going on to secure work in their chosen field.”

This was the first ever Higher Education QAA review at Seevic College. The College offers degrees in education studies and early years as well as HND courses in business and art. Seevic College is looking to expand the number of courses it offers.

The Quality Assurance Agency checks the three million students in Higher Education across the country get the best experience.

QAA's Higher Education Reviews are carried out by experts from other universities and colleges. Every review team includes a student reviewer, because QAA believes that students should be partners in the quality assurance of their education.

The team that reviewed Seevic College comprised Roshani Swift (QAA) , Sarah Riches (independent reviewer) and Matthew Kearns (student reviewer, Newcastle University).

Ellouise Stallard, Seevic’s Higher Education Executive Representative, said: “I am really pleased to hear Seevic has been given such a positive review from the Quality Assurance Agency.

“As HE Executive Rep for the new academic year, I look forward to working with staff to build on this success and ensure Seevic continues to deliver high quality teaching to all students.”

A successful review means that the College can display the QAA Quality Mark, indicating to UK and international students that it meets national requirements for standards and quality.
