HE may have waltzed out of Strictly Come Dancing, but Dominic Littlewood still has the public vote - especially when it comes to his Essex house.

The TV presenter has just put his spacious two-bedroom townhouse on the market for £499,950 and so far, the level of interest has been toe-tappingly good.

Due to work commitments, Dom recently traded his home town for the bright lights of London. But believes his former seafront home, in Chalkwell Esplanade, is ideally situated for making the most of Southend.

"It's just perfect," he said.

"It's right on the beach and a hive of activity, but I just don't have the time to enjoy it as much as I used to anymore.

"I love Southend to death and was tempted to keep the house as a weekend retreat, but I'm always so, so busy. I know it would always be empty and become a liability, so I decided to sell it and move on."

However much Dom is away though, it's unlikely he'll leave Southend forever. In fact, there's a good chance he might come back soon.

"I'm not washing my hands of Southend at all," he explained.

"I've got so many friends and family here that I'm always coming back. And who knows? I might even buy myself a more manageable apartment to stay in when I'm in town."

Dominic bought his seafront property in 2000 and found it to be the perfect bachelor pad. It is just off the main drag of the seafront so is nice and quiet and, with a double garage where he could nurture his well-known love of cars, Dom couldn't have asked for more.

Light and airy, the house has several large windows and balconies overlooking the estuary and an open-plan kitchen and lounge area.

This room occupies the whole of the first floor and incorporates a raised study area and Finnish sauna - the perfect retreat.

The two bedrooms are on the top floor. The master bedroom has built-in wardrobes and views over the seafront.

A contemporary bathroom can is also on this level, kitted out in black, white and stone.

There are several other handy additions to the home including a decked area that is ideal for entertaining, a shower room and off-road parking for two vehicles. Rob Kahl, from Essex Countryside, said: "I really like the house.

"With all the open-plan areas, it's my type of property and on a sunny day, the views over the estuary are beautiful.

"At this time of year, it's difficult to gauge how much interest there will be, but I think we'll definitely get a few more lookers."

I hope the Evening Echo are going to offer the same amount of free advertising to everyone who wants to sell their home. I can only assume Jenny Green is on a nice little earner for this article.

People like reading about local celebrities. People also like reading about interesting properties on the market. This article gives you both.

Martin, it is good of you to reply, I am impressed.

My point is though who is this guy? The first time I heard of him was when the Echo published an article about him because he was on some TV show, the dancing one I believe. I am not entirely sure why he is a so called celebrity and if he is why we should want to read about him. This is very similar to the Brian Belo experience. I would have thought that the Echo would have learned that we do not care about these people.

The real crime here is that you have given a huge free advert for this guy to showcase his home and also highlighted the name and telephone number of the estate agent. I cannot recall a time before where the Echo has advertised someone’s home in such a way. It cannot be right.

Who really cares who the property belongs to ? The only interesting feature the echo has failed to mention is that it has been on the market since atleast 09-06-2006 and was initially offered for sale at £ 599,950. A good bit of free advertising for someone who could otherwise afford it !

Do you people not read the Echo every Thursday?! they have a house on the front of the property section every week, highlighting what's interesting and for sale. Whether you like Dom Littlewood or not is irrelevant - he's a celebrity whether you like it or not and the fact that his house is for sale (and in a national newspaper last weekend) makes it NEWS - and funnily enough, that's what the Echo's all about.

Yep and who would spend £500k on a house with a busy railway line not more than 15 yds behind it.

At least he can't tear his hair out in exasperation at the lack of interest !

Don't know the space rates for The Gazette, but that write up would have cost a few bob. Paid advertising or editorial, the latter always wins hands down. As something of a celebrity myself, (I once shook Mandela's hand) I am sorry that my house is not for sale. Perhaps if it ever is I can give Jenny a ring? Mind you I'm not always so so busy like what Dom is! And my love of cars, in particular my Suzuki Swift (old model) is neither nurtured nor well known so perhaps I wouldn't stand much of a chance. Ah well Say la v.

Funny how jealous people can be! Why do you all care that he got free advertising? I'm just glad to see his gorgeous pic in the paper!
