MANY major musicals have been announced for the Cliffs Pavilion this month.

Here is a round up of those taking to the Station Road, Westcliff, stage next year.

Hairspray

The 60s-based musical phenomenon is heading back out on a tour around the UK and Ireland, and it will be at the Cliffs from September 9 to September 14.

It will feature some of the production’s hit songs, including You Can’t Stop the Beat and Good Morning Baltimore.

This fun-filled, feel-good show will have 8pm evening performances, and a 2.30pm show on September 11 and September 14.

Only Fools and Horses

British comedy icon Paul Whitehouse’s smash-hit production based on the legendary record-breaking BBC TV show is coming to the theatre from September 30 to October 5.

With a script and original score written by John’s son, Jim Sullivan and comedian and actor Paul Whitehouse, the classic comedy is brought to life on stage - featuring Del Boy, Rodney, Grandad, Cassandra, Raquel, Boycie, Marlene, Trigger, Denzil, Mickey Pearce, Mike the Barman, the Driscoll Brothers and all the gang.

The show will have 8pm evening performances, and a 2.30pm show on October 2 and October 5.

Madagascar

Alex, Marty, Melman, Gloria, the penguins and King Julien will be pumping the party atmosphere in the Westcliff theatre from Thursday, August 1 to Sunday, August 4.

Starring CBBC and Strictly Come Dancing star Karim Zeroual as the ring-tailed lemur, he will be joined by other talented actors for a “musical of a lifetime”.

Thursday and Friday’s performance start at 7pm; there will be an 11am morning show, followed by a 5pm viewing on Saturday and Sunday.

Pretty Woman

Hollywood’s ultimate rom com is coming to the city from August 6 to August 17.

It follows the story of prostitute Vivian Ward setting eyes on and falling in love with wealthy businessman Edward Lewis.

It also features a rock score from Bryan Adams and Jim Vallance – Summer of ’69 and Heaven.

There will be 8pm evening performances, and a 2.30pm show on August 7, August 10, August 11, August 14 and August 17.

Grease

The world’s best-loved show about leather-clad greaser Danny Zuko and the girl-next-door Sandy Olsson finding true love is playing from November 5 to November 9.

The musical will be bursting with the classics, such as Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin’ and You’re the One That I Want, and it will be brought to life by a young energetic cast.

There will be 8pm evening performances, and a 2.30pm show on November 6 and November 9.
