THE family and friends of a dad-of-two given just two months to live following a shock cancer diagnosis are pleading for help to give him “one last party”.

Shaun Cummings, 52, was told on Wednesday that he has an advanced form of cancer and doctors told him the devastating news that he has just two months to live.

The cancer is inoperable and his wife, Caroline, 52, as well as his children Caci, 14, and Cody, 11, are heartbroken.

Family friend, Wayne Bond, owner of Basildon burger business, DB Shack, has launched a fundraiser for Shaun, to help get him the send-off he deserves and will be hosting a fundraising party next month.

Caroline Cummings said: “Shaun is a living, caring and hardworking person, he puts everyone in front of himself.

“He has always been a provider and he has been my rock.

“We are worried for the future and a fundraiser would be a massive support.

“My little boy, Cody, has been asking if we are going to have to leave our house and what are we going to do about money because Shaun pays the rent.

“The support we have received over the past few days has been amazing.

“Shaun was bedridden over Christmas and the new year and has been told they can’t offer any treatment, it’s just been devastating.”

All proceeds of the fundraiser will be go towards helping to pay for Shaun’s funeral and to support the family.

Wayne said: “We have known each other for a relatively short period of time, and we have gone from strength to strength, we are like family.

“We have a fundraiser booked for February 16, with singers and a raffle and donated prizes which is fantastic, and we have had a great response from local businesses. A local tattoo artist has donated £200, and Fobbing Farm Shop has donated prizes and is printing the tickets.

“Shaun loves a good party and one of his wishes was to have a good party one last time. We will have this celebration of life while he is still around.”
