THERE’S no place like home for Diversity duo Jordan Banjo and Perri Kiely.

The dancers have wowed crowd across the world with their stunning shows.

But coming back to Southend’s Cliffs Pavilion still remains special.

Jordan said: “When you say home-town you can be used to it so it might not feel as special but it’s the complete opposite for us and we love it here.

“If we’re not here for Panto then we’re here on tour.

“Pel lives 10 minutes up the road, I’m five minutes up the road so it’s genuinely home for us.

“We’ve got friends, family and people from our studio which is literally round the corner, here watching and it’s great.”

Diversity’s ‘Supernova’ show received a lengthy standing ovation on its opening night at the Cliffs Pavilion on Friday.

And Southend is right at the heart of the show.

“It’s all from here, even the screen content you see,” said Jordan, who lives in Stanbridge.

“The apartment we used for filming is in Southend and the park we filmed is too.

“I saw my first panto here, plus a few other shows and we grew up in and around the area too.

“It’s a special place for us and the reception at the end made it even more special.”

And those sentiments were echoed by the Benfleet based Perri.

“That moment at the end when we look out and see the crowd Ash was talking about when everything was being put together because we never really do get a chance to take it in,” explained Perri.

“He played that bit of music and it’s quite long but every time we go out now it doesn’t feel long enough.

“It’s insane to see people standing up, clapping and cheering.

“It’s amazing.”

And the local links make it even more memorable for Perri.

“You’re seeing friends and family in the crowd and it’s really cool,” he said.

“I don’t think we could get much closer.

“I’m in Benfleet and our studio is three minutes down the road.

“It’s such a home crowd I think we could probably get a lift home from most of them.”
