A hit Broadway and West End musical is returning to Southend and it will star a Strictly Come Dancing sensation.

Kinky Boots The Musical, based on a true story and hit movie, is strutting back to Cliffs Pavilion with a new production starring Strictly Come Dancing’s Johannes Radebe and rising theatre actor Dan Partridge.

This joy-filled phenomenon features Tony and Grammy winning music and lyrics by pop legend Cyndi Lauper and is directed by Nikolai Foster, also famous for his productions of The Wizard of Oz, Grease and An Officer and a Gentleman.

The musical will follow Partridge as Charlie Price after inheriting his family's failing shoe factory as he meets drag queen Lola, played by Strictly professional Radebe,  whose sparkle and unsteady heels might just hold the answer to saving the struggling business.

The show will return to the Station Road theatre from June 3 until June 7 next year as part of its UK and Ireland tour.

Tickets, ranging from £27 to £65, are on sale now at trafalgartickets.com. Johannes Radebe will not appear in the 2.30pm Wednesday matinee.
