FOLK music heroes are playing at the first Wat Tyler Folk Festival.
The six-hour event gets under way from 1pm at Wat Tyler Country Park, Pitsea Hall Lane, Pitsea, on Saturday, September 5.
Acclaimed-duo Martin Carthy and Dave Swarbrick, back together after 14 years, will be topping the bill.
Martin Carthy is a singer and guitarist who is credited with inspiring stars, including Bob Dylan and Paul Simon.
Dave Swarbrick is a musician best known for his fiddle playing with the Ian Campbell Folk Group and Fairport Convention in the 1960s.
Last year’s BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards winner Martin Simpson and Essex boys Mawkin Causley will also be performing.
The festival will feature craft stalls, offering local produce and a selection of local real ales on tap.
Tickets cost £8 and £5 for concessions. They are available by calling the box office on 01268 485465.
