FILM music is synonymous with a moment in time. Be it the iconic Star Wars theme in the Seventies or the heart-wrenching Schindler’s List soundtrack in the Nineties.

Now fans of the music genre can enjoy the likes of James Bond, Slumdog Millionaire, Mamma Mia and Out of Africa in full glory with the 35-piece Soundpower Orchestra.

The orchestra will put on an Evening of Music from the Movies at the Cliffs Pavilion in Westcliff, on Sunday.

Father and daughter duo Emily and Brian Lynn will be performing in the show together for the first time.

Emily, 25, who graduated from Leeds College of Music this year, will provide vocals and Brian will be playing the trombone in the brass section of the orchestra.

Brian says: “Film music is very popular at the moment and this show incorporates a great variety from different decades.

“Arrangements like Star Wars are so well put together and organised that they stand out to us. They also really allow every instrument to shine, especially the brass section, which is good for me.”

It will also be a trip down memory lane for Emily, who grew up in Brentwood and did her work experience at the Cliffs in 2000.

She says: “I was 15 at the time and even then I knew I wanted to do something in music. I had a great grounding there, working on the box office, front of house and back stage. I cannot believe ten years on and I am going to be performing on stage.”
