GUN dogs, jousting and vintage tractors are all set to arrive in the area this weekend.

Now in it’s 24th year, the Essex Country Show takes place at Barleylands, Billericay, between 10am and 5pm on Saturday and Sunday.

The highlights include Gardening Question Time, which was a huge success last year. Experts Jeff Hodge, Colin Evans and Cliff Bloomfield, will all be on hand to answer your queries.

Also performing will be Knights of the Damned stunt jousting display presented by TV and film stuntman Justin Pearson.

In the main arena, Paul Lewis will show off his birds of prey flying demonstration, including eagles, a vulture, hawks, owls and falcons over the weekend.

A new attraction will be Les Dixon and the Mountgrace Gun Dogs. He will demonstrate how a trained gun dog team work together, as well as how to train young dogs.

Event manager for the show, Shaun Young, said: “This is the pinnacle of the agricultural calendar and last year was enjoyed by 37,000 visitors”.

Car parking is free and admission is £10 for adults, £7 for senior citizens and £5 for children aged between three and 12. A family ticket costs £25.
