Basildon’S resident choir celebrates Christmas tonight with its annual concert of seasonal music.
Basildon Choral Society’s programme is modelled on the famous service of nine lessons and nine carols held at King’s College Chapel, Cambridge.
The music will cover a range of Christmas favourites, old and new.
As always, the concert will be held in St Martin’s Church, St Martin’s Square, Basildon. The 52-year-old choir will be conducted by its regular musical director, Stephen Hope.
The choir is on the look-out for new members. Any interested singers are welcome to join one of the society’s weekly rehearsals, held on Wednesdays at St Gabriel’s church, Pitsea, from 7.45pm to 9.45pm.
Alternatively, get in touch via the choir’s website, www.basildonchoral. org The concert starts at 7.45pm tonight, ending at 10pm. Tickets priced £9, £7 for concessions, are available at the door or by ringing 01268 450421.
