BAILIFFS will be sent into the Hovefields traveller site again after councillors agreed to demolish an illegal caravan pitch.
Basildon Council’s development control committee voted in private to demolish the pitch called Hatchertang, in Hovefields Avenue, Wickford.
It is one of four unauthorised pitches left at the site, which also has around 16 legal ones.
According to a council spokesman the plot, owned by the McCann family, is currently empty.
A council spokesman said: “Delegated authority was given to senior officers and the chair or vice chair of the committee to take direct action.”
He said any changes in personal circumstances would be taken into account before the action on a date to be set.
Stuart hardwick-carruthers, a campaigner for travellers, has been drafted in to make a fresh planning application in a bid to halt the action.
