Pitsea pool will close by December

THE doors of Pitsea’s much-loved swimming pool will close for the final time in a matter of weeks the Echo can reveal.
Officials at Basildon Council have said the pool at Northlands Pavement, Pitsea will close by Sunday December 2 the latest.
And the pool could close even sooner if relocation plans - such as moving classes normally based there to other pools in the borough - can be agreed.
The news - which came as a blow to campaigners still battling to save the pool - came as Basildon Council took the unusual step of opening a “helpdesk” at its town centre offices to help those affected by the closure.

other pools in the borough

sso that's the Sporting Village or that private pool in Billericay then?

Or are there any other sporting facilities run by the council that they haven't sold off for housing/pocket linings?

Basildon sports center (by the college) but no doubt that will go if they get their way to build houses over there and then that leaves the eversley which no doubt at some point will be on there 'For sale' list

When the sporting village was being used for Olympic training, my son who is with Basildon Phoenix swimming club had to go to south woodham to swim as there were no spaces in pitsea or wickford. The Olympic theme was to get children active in sport ... So why loose a swimming pool which is always to customer capacity for a retail food outlet is beyond me.
