And the road was closed in both directions because........? Oh, I forgot - to land the bloody helicopter no doubt.

I dunno - these 'cuts' we keep hearing about yet they send a helicopter if someone so much as grazes their knee.

How the **** you can crash on a dual carriageway, everyone going in the same direction is beyond me.

Probably the same sort of idiots unable to negotiate Sadlers Farm's signs.

I had the misfortune to drive past the scene just after the accident happened - I can assure you that those involved had more than 'a graze' - in fact I am very surprised, albeit very happily, that anybody managed to survive this accident after looking at the wreckages! Thank goodness we are all of varying degrees of intelligence and there are people unlike the above who are fit to make decisions (after years of higher education I should imagine) about what type of emergency services should attend Road traffic collisions...I should think in this situation the air ambulance and team on board saved the gentleman's life.

Are you a complete dick? The report says man arrested for dangerous driving,do you need any more clues as to how the crash happened.

If you saw this accident, I think you would understand why the helicopter was called. It was a horrific crash, probably one of the worst ones ive seen ever. 1 of the Vehicles was crushed like a coke can.

If your involved in a accident like this, lets hope the helicopter is available, because the fast and swift actions probably just about saved this mans life.

I-say-you-say says...

Being arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving is commonplace and simply a precautionary measure.

As previously stated, he could have had a blow out or the sun could have got in his eyes which means it would be an accident and therefore insurance companies would deal with it.

However, if he was doing something stupid like....120mph, weaving in and out of traffic, tailgating etc then more fool him.

Let's just hope the driver taken to hospital is ok as those charges could go up!

As for the ridiculous comment by Rochford Rob, you might find that they closed it both ways to prevent rubberneckers causing another accident on the other side of the road while the situation was dealt with. Therefore saving money on emergency services.
