A DEDICATED group, set up to probe whether a new home can be found for the controversial Felmores bail hostel, will begin its work next month.

Made up of around four councillors - including members of the council’s Tory administration and Labour and Lib Dem opposition councillors - the group would meet over a number of weeks.

They will explore the possibilities of where the hostel could move and hear from key figures, including bosses from Essex Probation who run the hostel, residents, police and ward councillors.

Basildon Council’s leader Tony Ball said the work of the task and finish group is just one thing the council is doing to try to get the hostel moved.
