Cheers! Mail order beer firm is coming to town

A NEW mail-order beer business is coming to the borough after a boom in online sales.

The firm, called Ales by Mail, is doing so well it is having to move from its premises in Romford to a bigger industrial unit at Image House, in Radford Way, Billericay .

The business, which sells ale, beer and cider from specialist breweries in Britain and around the world, already employs six full-time staff, but is expecting to create five extra jobs with the move to Billericay.

Over the busy festive period, the mail order firm will also have about ten temporary full and part-time vacancies to offer to local youngsters and students.

If bringing real ale and extra jobs is not enough, the company, run and owned by husband and wife Paul and Karen Kruzycki, is also hoping to open a shop in 2013 based at Radford Way, selling bottles and kegs of ale.

Mr Kruzycki said: “Our business is definitely bucking the trend in the economy.

“Our business is going forward and thriving and we are looking forward to moving to Essex and the exceptionally booming Christmas season.

“We have lots of beer going through our doors, with normally about 800 parcels a week shipped out to our customers.”

The beer firm, which operates from its website alesbymail.com sells ales, beers and ciders from breweries all over the world, based anywhere from the Scottish Highlands to America.

It also sells specialist sausages made from hand-reared pork, nibbles to enjoy with a pint and vegan and organic beers.

The firm is expecting to open the new warehouse in Billericay in mid-September. It will have a specialist cold store to keep beers chilled which have been shipped from across the Atlantic.

The internet company has applied for an alcohol licence from Basildon Council enabling it to send out beer to customers between 9am and 8pm Monday to Friday and 9am to noon on Saturdays.

The application has yet to be determined.

I don't understand. If it's already operating and sending out 800 parcels a week then why does it need an alcohol licence from Basildon Council and what happens if it doesn't get it?

They are already operating from Romford so have probably got a licence from their local council. I imagine if the don't get a licence they stay where they are for the time being and look for somewhere else.

bit common for Billericay though isn't it?

Unless they have a rather fine selection of amontillado sherrys and top quality ports along with a decent line in high price champagne.....

This is such good news coming , as it does, in the wake of The Pound Shop. I have had the pleasure of sampling their Giggly Pig sausages at a dinner party recently and they are soooo goooood !
